FAQs
Where do you offer services?
At present, all services are provided virtually. Any resident of Ontario may access service through Caitlin Shipley Therapy.
For our virtual therapy to be most effective and safe, it’s helpful that you have a quiet, private space for you to be able to join your therapy session.
What kind of therapy do you provide?
My therapy approaches are a blend of narrative, emotion focused, strength based and cognitive behaviour therapy as well as family therapy. As the therapeutic rapport between therapist and client is key to positive outcomes in therapy, we will work together to ensure the therapy offered is helping you to move towards your therapy goals.
How long is a session?
Sessions are 50 minutes in length.
How long does therapy take?
I will work with you and your needs to determine length of treatment, incorporating into this your benefit coverage and your therapy budget.
How much does therapy cost?
The therapy fee is $160/session. Fees are paid by e-transfer following each session. A receipt will be emailed to you following payment. Receipts can be submitted for insurance coverage or can be used as a health care expense deduction on your tax return. Please review your insurance provider’s plan to understand your coverage for psychotherapy/social work services. We can work together to budget your therapy needs.
Please inquire about the availability of sliding scale.
What if I need to miss an appointment?
- 24-hours notice is required and 48-hours is preferred for a cancellation
- You will be charged the full session fee for a missed appointment
What if I have a crisis?
I do not offer emergency support/therapy.
The most important thing in a crisis is access to support in the moment. In a crisis, please call 911 or go to your local hospital’s emergency room.
What about confidentiality?
My services are confidential. I follow comprehensive confidentiality standards and legislation set out by the Social Work regulatory bodies. All client information is kept confidential and will not be released to anyone without your written permission, except under circumstances required by law
